Lagana Accepts Women's Soccer Post at Ferrum

FERRUM, Va.  --  Ferrum College Director of Athletics Abe Naff has announced the hiring of Sandy Lagana as Head Women's Soccer Coach.

Lagana comes to Ferrum from Mary Baldwin College, where she served as Head Women's Soccer Coach and Sports Information Director during the fall of 2006.  Prior to that, she served as Assistant Women's Soccer Coach at Mary Baldwin during the 2005-06 academic year.  As head coach at Mary Baldwin, Lagana was responsible for all phases of the school's NCAA Division III women's soccer program.  She also coordinated athletic media needs for the Squirrels' eight athletic teams.

Lagana also served as Head Coach of the Harrisonburg Heat Soccer Club, a U-16 girl's soccer team, from 2004-2006. During the 2005-2006 school year, she was junior varsity coach for the Broadway High School girl's soccer program.  Prior to working at Mary Baldwin, Lagana was a Marketing Specialist with Rosetta Stone in Harrisonburg from 2004-2006.

Lagana earned a Bachelor's degree in Communication Studies from Bridgewater College in 2004, then went on to earn a Master's degree in Kinesiology from James Madison University in 2006.  While at Bridgewater, Lagana was a four-year standout with the Eagle women's soccer program, earning All-State and All-Conference recognition.  Lagana also played lacrosse for Bridgewater, earning All-Conference honors. A 2000 graduate of South Carroll High School in Winfield, Maryland, Lagana was her school's high school valedictorian.

Lagana succeeds Celia Mosier, who resigned in November after five years at Ferrum to pursue other professional opportunities.  Lagana begins her duties at Ferrum immediately.  For more information, please contact the Ferrum sports information office at (540) 365-4306.
