Lagana Accepts Women's Soccer Post at Ferrum
FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College Director of Athletics Abe
Naff has announced the hiring of Sandy Lagana as Head Women's Soccer
Coach.
Lagana
comes to Ferrum from Mary Baldwin College, where she served as Head
Women's Soccer Coach and Sports Information Director during the fall
of 2006. Prior to that, she served as Assistant Women's Soccer
Coach at Mary Baldwin during the 2005-06 academic year. As
head coach at Mary Baldwin, Lagana was responsible for all phases of
the school's NCAA Division III women's soccer program. She
also coordinated athletic media needs for the Squirrels' eight
athletic teams.
Lagana also served as Head Coach of the Harrisonburg Heat Soccer
Club, a U-16 girl's soccer team, from 2004-2006. During the
2005-2006 school year, she was junior varsity coach for the Broadway
High School girl's soccer program. Prior to working at Mary
Baldwin, Lagana was a Marketing Specialist with Rosetta Stone in
Harrisonburg from 2004-2006.
Lagana earned a Bachelor's degree in Communication Studies from
Bridgewater College in 2004, then went on to earn a Master's degree
in Kinesiology from James Madison University in 2006. While at
Bridgewater, Lagana was a four-year standout with the Eagle women's
soccer program, earning All-State and All-Conference recognition.
Lagana also played lacrosse for Bridgewater, earning All-Conference
honors. A 2000 graduate of South Carroll High School in Winfield,
Maryland, Lagana was her school's high school valedictorian.
Lagana succeeds Celia Mosier, who resigned in November after five
years at Ferrum to pursue other professional opportunities.
