Wade Named Rookie of the Week

FERRUM, Va.  --  Freshman point guard Jerrell Wade (Ferrum, Va./Franklin County) was named Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week by the USA South Athletic Conference for his play in Ferrum College's opening week of play.

Also nominated for Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week honors were A.B. Lehmann of  Methodist College, Theo Baker of Christopher Newport University, and R.J. Smith of Greensboro College.

Wade had 25 points in his career debut Nov. 17 as Ferrum opened the season with a  73-52 win at home over Huntingdon College in the first round of the 2006 USA South-Great South Tip-Off Classic.

Wade then registered 10 points, five rebounds and four assists in a 70-64 win over Piedmont College the next day.  For his efforts, Wade earned a spot on the event's All-Tournament team.
