Ferrum Takes Two from Bishops
FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College earned a pair of USA
South athletic Conference basketball wins this
afternoon over visiting North Carolina Wesleyan College, winning the
women's game 97-63 and the men's game 83-79.

In the women's game, Ferrum freshman guard
Ashley Norton
(Martinsville, Va./Magna Vista) tied the school record for
single game assists with 14. She closed with nine points.
Freshman Tonya
Wright (Bland, Va./Bland County) had 18 points and six rebounds
for the Panthers.
Senior guard
Aline Alzime
(Leesburg, Va./Stonebridge), senior guard
Quanita
Bennett (Virginia Beach, Va./Coastal Christian) and freshman guard
Miranda Carrasco (Vinton, Va./William Byrd)
each had 12 points.
Ferrum (13-5, 6-1 USA South) led 51-31 at halftime. The win
keeps the Panthers tied for the USA South lead with Greensboro
College, with both teams sporting 6-1 league records.
N.C.
Wesleyan (4-12, 1-6) was led by J.D. Richardson, who had 18 points.
The Bishops also got 10 points each from April Wilson and Lawanda
Scott.
In the men's game, N.C. Wesleyan led 36-35 at halftime only to see
Ferrum come back for the win in the second half.
Junior forward
Jon Godsey (Gladys, Va./William Campbell) had his sixth
double-double of the season, 19 points and 16 rebounds, while junior center Cedric Jones (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass)
had 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Senior forward
Keith Harris (Ringgold, Va./Dan River) had 15 points and
senior Rob
Fuller (Timberlake, N.C./Person Co.) had 13 points. Ferrum
(9-10, 3-3 USA South) out-rebounded the Bishops 45-43.
N.C. Wesleyan (8-10, 303) was led by Lenny Hall's 20 points.
Emanuel Alston and Trey Drake had 15 points each, while Adam
Coleman had 12 points and 13 rebounds. Jarvis Cobb added 11
points in the loss.
The Panthers host Averett University in a USA South doubleheader
Wednesday, January 31. The women tip off at 5:30 p.m., with
