Panthers Thump Peace 83-51
FERRUM, Va. -- The Ferrum College women's basketball
team picked up a lopsided win this afternoon over visiting Peace
College, 83-51, in USA South Athletic Conference play.

Senior guard
Aline Alzime (Leesburg, Va./Stonebridge) led Ferrum with 13
points and nine rebounds, both game-highs.

Shanita Bennett (Virginia Beach, Va./Coastal Christian) had 12
points for the Panthers.
Ferrum (12-5, 5-1 USA South) led 39-21 at halftime. The
Panthers were up by as many as 34 points in the second half, holding
a 69-35 advantage following a basket by junior center

Davenport (Baton Rouge, La./Runnels) with 7:58 left to play.
Davenport closed with nine points and seven rebounds.

Bennett (Virginia Beach, Va./Coastal Christian) and freshman
forward Tonya
Wright (Bland, Va./Bland County) had eight points each. In
a well-balanced offensive showing, all 13 players scored for Ferrum.
The Panthers also dominated the boards, 47-29.
Peace (6-10, 0-6 USA South) was led by Christy Freeman's nine
points. Amanda Cross, Brittany Lynn and LeAnne Horne had seven
points each for the Pacers.
Coach Bryan Harvey's team returns to action Sunday, Jan. 28, with a
USA South home doubleheader against North Carolina Wesleyan College. The women tip
