FERRUM, VA – Director of Athletics Abe Naff has announced that Dave Jager has been named Head Athletic Trainer at Ferrum College. Jager comes to Ferrum from Virginia Tech, where he completed his master's degree in Education with an emphasis in Health and Physical Education in July of 2005. Jager is a licensed athletic trainer in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and holds certification from the National Athletic Trainers Association. He is certified in CPR and first aid, and is a certified lifeguard. Jager will oversee the overall athletic training program at Ferrum, including direct responsibility for Ferrum's two training rooms, and the supervision of a full-time assistant athletic trainer and all student athletic trainers. As a graduate assistant in the Virginia Tech athletic training program, Jager worked under Head Athletic Trainer Mike Goforth from August 2004 until his graduation in July of 2005. Prior to his arrival at Tech, Jager completed an athletic training fellowship at Northwestern University in 2003-04. In April of 2003, he received his bachelor's degree in Movement Science with an emphasis in Athletic Training from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. While at Grand Valley, Jager served as a student athletic trainer from August of 2001 through December of 2002. Jager completed athletic training internships with the Grand Rapids Rampage of the Arena Football League, in 2002-03, and the Grand Rapids Hoops of the Continental Basketball Association in 2001-02. He also served as equipment manager for the Rampage in 2002-03. Originally from Montague, Michigan, Jager was a 1998 graduate of Montague High School.
