Former Glenvar High School Coach Joins Panther Staff FERRUM, VA – Director of Athletics Abe Naff has announced that Bryan Harvey has accepted the Head Women's Basketball Coach position at Ferrum College. Harvey succeeds Donna Doonan, who resigned in June to pursue a career in the insurance industry in south Florida. Harvey has served as Head Girls Basketball Coach at Glenvar High School in Roanoke since 1997, leading the Lady Highlanders to state titles in 1997 and 2002. In eight seasons at the helm of the program, Harvey registered a 133-73 (.646) career coaching record. His state title teams in the fall of 1997 and 2001 were 23-4 and 27-2, respectively. Harvey’s coaching laurels include being named Three Rivers District Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2002, Region C Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2002, VHSCA Coach of the Year in 1997 and 2002, and Kiwanis Club of Roanoke Valley and Botetourt County in 2002 and 2003. The Roanoke Times also named Harvey Timesland Girls Basketball Coach of the Year in 2002 and the Virginia Associated Press named him Virginia Girls Basketball Coach of the Year in 1997. Harvey also served as an assistant at Hollins University during the 2000-01 season, and was an assistant with Glenvar’s boys program from 1990-2001. A Health & Physical Education Teacher in the Roanoke County School System since 1997, Harvey is also currently serving as Women’s Club Basketball President for the Roanoke Stars. Ferrum opens the 2005 women’s basketball season November 18-19 at the Eastern Mennonite University Invitational.
