Tennis Honor
FERRUM, Va. –
Ferrum College senior
Matt Brantley has been named to the
2006 Virginia Sports
Information Directors (VaSID) Men's Tennis All-State Team as a second
team selection.
2006 VaSID Men's Tennis All-State Team
A May 2006 graduate with a double-major in
history & social studies and a political science minor,
Brantley is one of the most decorated men's tennis players at Ferrum
since the College joined the NCAA Division III ranks in 1985.
Last month, Brantley was honored by the College Sports Information
Directors (CoSIDA) Academic All-America with a spot on the 2006 Men's
At-Large Team for District III as a second team selection.
Brantley is the only player in school history to pass the 100-win mark.
He was named a 2005 National Scholar-Athlete by the Intercollegiate
Tennis Association, an award he is eligible for again in 2006.
Ferrum went 49-19 in men's tennis during Brantley's four-year
tenure, winning six tournament team titles.
He won six singles and two doubles tournament titles individually at
Ferrum.
Brantley
is the son of Crystal and Tommy Brantley of Norlina, North
Carolina, and a 2002 graduate of Warren County High School. For
