IMMEDIATE RELEASE FERRUM, Va. – The Ferrum College baseball team picked up a 19-7 non-conference win this evening at home over LaGrange College. In the most recent Division III baseball poll by Collegiate Baseball, LaGrange is ranked #23 in the nation. Official Box Score: Ferrum 19, LaGrange 7 Senior Travis Hundley (Ferrum, Va./Franklin County) went 3-3 tonight with a solo home run in the sixth inning. Sophomore Joshua Tuck (Richmond, Va./Hermitage) went 3-6 with a triple, three RBI and three runs. Sophomore Nick Baker (Vinton, Va./William Byrd) went 3-6 with a double, four RBI and a run. Junior Brett Thomas (Danville, Va./George Washington) went 3-6 with an RBI and two runs. Junior Brent Sowers (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) went 3-7 with a double, four RBI and two runs. Junior Ryan Cooper (Stuarts Draft, Va./Stuarts Draft) scattered eight hits over six innings for the win. Cooper struck out three batters and walked one. Ferrum improves to 22-8-1 with the win, while LaGrange is now 20-8. The Panthers play at home Thursday, April 6, against non-conference opponent Bridgewater. The game begins at 7 p.m. at Panther Field in Ferrum. # # # |
