IMMEDIATE RELEASE FERRUM, Va. – Sophomore second baseman Joshua Tuck (Richmond, Va./Hermitage) drilled a single to right-center field in the bottom of the 10th inning with bases loaded and no outs to drive in the winning run as Ferrum College edged Lynchburg College 5-4 in non-conference baseball action tonight at home. Official Box Score: Ferrum 5, Lynchburg 4 Freshman first baseman Alex Stover (Bridgewater, Va./Turner-Ashby) went 3-4 with a double, a two-run home run in the fourth inning, three RBI and two runs. Senior pitcher Jesse Bowles (Boones Mill, Va./Franklin County) scattered eight hits over six complete innings, striking out three and walking three. Senior B.J. Durham (Danville, Va./George Washington) was credited with the win, pitching the final 2.2 innings. Durham allowed two hits, fanned two and walked none as he raised his record to 2-0 this season. For Lynchburg, Lucas Jones went 3-5, Josh Walker went 2-6 with a double, and Kevin Nichol went 2-4 with a double. Brandon Weaver was credited with the loss. Weaver entered the game in the bottom of the 10th inning facing bases loaded and no outs. Tuck drove his second pitch to right-center to drive in the game-winning run. Ferrum (18-11-1) will be back in action tomorrow night at Calfee Park in Pulaski to face non-conference opponent Emory & Henry College at 7 p.m. Lynchburg (19-15) hosts Southern Virginia University tomorrow at 3 p.m. in Lynchburg. # # # |
