IMMEDIATE RELEASE All-Tournament Teams FERRUM, Va. – Three Ferrum College student-athletes were named to the USA South Athletic Conference All-Tournament teams last weekend. The league held its six spring sports championship tournaments in Burling, North Carolina, in a spring festival format. Senior 1B Kristina Wilhelm (Covington, Va./Alleghany), was named to the USA South Softball All-Tournament Team. She batted .538 in four games as Ferrum went 2-2 at the league championships. Wilhelm, who was named to the All-Conference honorable mention team this season, helped Ferrum finish the season at 23-21 overall this year under Coach Vickie Van Kleeck. 2006 USA South Softball All-Tournament Team Junior C Nick Baker (Vinton, Va./William Byrd) was named to the USA South Baseball All-Tournament Team. Baker batted .545 with a double and six RBI in three games. The Panthers are currently 28-11-1 this season under Coach Abe Naff. 2006 USA South Baseball All-Tournament Team Freshman Mike Sampson (Wirtz, Va./Franklin County) was named to the USA South Men's Tennis All-Tournament Team. He went at #2 1-1 in singles and 1-1 at #3 doubles in two matches at the tournament. Sampson, who was named to the All-Conference honorable mention team this season, helped the Panthers finish the season at 12-7 overall under Coach Gary Holden. 2006 USA South Men's Tennis All-Tournament Team # # # |
