Ferrum Va.  – Ferrum College picked up an important USA South Conference victory over Greensboro College 6-4 on Sunday afternoon.

Junior third baseman

Greensboro opened the scoring on the day with a run in the top of the first.  Ferrum answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning when  freshman Alex Stover (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) singled to score senior John Sain (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring), and Thomas scored when senior Jesse Bowles (Boones Mill, Va./Franklin County) reached on a fielder's choice.   Greensboro knotted the game at two with another run in the top of the second, but a single by sophomore Nick Baker (Vinton, Va./William Byrd) knocked in senior Travis Hundley (Ferrum, Va./Franklin County) who reached on a double in the bottom of the inning.  The Panthers added a run in the fifth inning when junior Matt Gammon (Blanch, N.C./Barlett-Yancey) led off with an inside the park home run.  Greensboro added a run each in the sixth and seventh innings to set the stage for Thomas' blast.
