IMMEDIATE RELEASE FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Ferrum College freshman Amber Ware (Bedford, Va./Liberty) has been named USA South Athletic Conference Softball Rookie of the Week for her play in eight games last week. Ware helped Ferrum go 6-2 last week. She batted .371 with 13 hits in 35 at-bats, and had a .543 slugging percentage. Ware drove in seven runs, had two doubles and two triples, scored a run, and went 2-2 in stolen bases. This is Ware's first Rookie of the Week honor. She is batting .300 (18-60) this season with two doubles, two triples, 13 RBI and five runs. Ware has a .400 slugging percentage, a .344 on-base percentage and a .850 fielding percentage. Ferrum (16-10, 5-1 USA South) plays next on Wednesday, March 29, a non-conference doubleheader with South Region powerhouse Roanoke College at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Virginia. The first game begins at 5 p.m. The Panthers then play at Christopher Newport University on Saturday, April 1, in a USA South clash starting at 1 p.m. # # # |
