IMMEDIATE RELEASE JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – Ferrum College placed 22nd of 24 teams at the 2006 Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational held March 24-26 at the par-72, 6521-yard Oleander Golf Course. Tournament Results Leading the way for the Panthers was senior William McLawhorn (Collinsville, Va./Patrick Henry CC), who carded a three-day total of 240 to tie for 67th place among a field of 128 players. McLawhorn shot a 79 on the first day of competition. Freshman Andrew Stanley (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) was Ferrum's next highest finisher with a 244 to finish in a tie for 89th place. Junior Adam Crawford (Willis, Va./Floyd County) had a 255, placing 109th. Ferrum returns to action at the Shipbuilder Invitational, hosted April 10-11 by the Apprentice School in Newport News, Virginia. Coach Bryan Harvey's team will then close out the season at the 2006 USA South Athletic Conference Tournament, to be held April 14-16 in Burlington, North Carolina. # # # |
