Softball Takes Two from Shenandoah
Panthers Sweep USA South Doubleheader

WINCHESTER, Va.  – Three Ferrum College softball team picked an a pair of USA South Athletic Conference wins on the road yesterday, beating Shenandoah University 9-5 and 11-5.

In the first game, Freshman Lauren Rizzo (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth's) went 3-5 with a double,  triple, two RBI and two runs scored.  Junior Kim Cox (Gladys, Va./William Campbell) scattered seven hits over eight innings for the win.  Cox struck out seven while walking one.

In the second game, sophomore Kathleen Gulino (Alexandria, Va./Mt. Vernon) went 4-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI.  Senior Trica Moore (Appomattox, Va./Appomattox) went 3-4 with a triple, sac fly, four RBI and three runs.  Junior Lindsay Etherton (Moneta, Va./Staunton River) went 3-5 with a triple and four RBI.   Junior Laura Terry (Willis Wharf, Va./No. Hampton) was credited with the win.  She allowed five hits in six innings, walked two and struck out six.

Ferrum is now 16-8 overall and 5-1 in the USA South.  The Panthers play tomorrow at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
