Ferrum Takes Three from Shenandoah in Baseball
Panthers Sweep USA South Series on the Road


WINCHESTER, Va.  – Ferrum College picked up a 13-0 baseball win this afternoon at Shenandoah University.  The win completes a USA South Athletic Conference series sweep over the Hornets.  The Panthers also won 12-3 and 6-2 over the Hornets yesterday.

Senior Travis Hundley (Ferrum, Va./Franklin County) went 3-4 with a double, three runs and an RBI in today's win.  Junior Brett Thomas (Danville, Va./George Washington) went 2-5 with a double, two RBI and a run.  Senior Jesse Bowles (Boones Mill, Va./Franklin County) allowed two hits in seven innings today, striking out eight and walking three walks.  Bowles improved to 3-1 on the mound this season.

In yesterday's opening game, Thomas went 3-5 with a home run, a stolen base, three RBI and two runs.  Bowles went 3-5 with a run and an RBI.  Sophomore Curtis Taylor (Glen Allen, Va./Hermitage) pitched seven innings to earn the win.  Taylor allowed seven hits, struck out nine and walked three


In the second game yesterday, sophomore Joshua Tuck (Richmond, Va./Hermitage) went 2-4 and scored a run.  Junior Casey Davenport (Bedford, Va./Liberty) pitched seven innings for the win, scattering three hits, fanning eight and walking one.

Ferrum improves to 13-6-1 with the sweep and is now 7-5 in the USA South.  Shenandoah falls to 14-7 with the losses, 4-5 in USA South play.  The Panthers will be back in action March 23 at home against Hampden-Sydney College.  The nine-inning game is slated to begin at 7 p.m. at Panther Field on the Ferrum campus.
