Ferrum Picks Up First Win in Women's Lacrosse
Panthers Down Dallas 9-8 in OT


Ferrum Va.  – Ferrum College got its first win of the season with a 9-8 overtime win over visiting University of Dallas.

Sophomore attack Stephanie Perih (Centreville, Va./Paul VI) drilled the game-winning goal with 2:14 remaining in the second overtime for the win.

Ferrum trailed 8-7 with just nine second left in regulation when sophomore Kerry Toomey (
Arnold, Md./Broadneck) scored to knot the score at 8-8 and send the match into overtime.

Perih had six goals and an assist, freshman attack Sarah Kaye (Annandale, Va./Paul VI) had two goals, and Toomey had a goal and an assist.  Freshman GK Jana Rodriguez (Winchester, Va./James Wood) had 15 saves in net for the Panthers.

With the win, Ferrum improves to 1-3 this season, while Dallas is now 1-8.  Coach Celia Mosier's team returns to action Thursday, March 16, at USA South Athletic Conference opponent Methodist College.
