Panthers Sweep NC Wesleyan in USA South Hoop Doubleheader
FERRUM, Va. –
The Ferrum College men's and women's basketball teams posted wins over
visiting North Carolina Wesleyan College tonight at home. The
FC women opened the night with an 84-45 shellacking, while the men
posted an 84-68 triumph over the Bishops in the nightcap.

In the women's game, junior
Aline Alzime
(Leesburg, Va./Stonebridge) had 12 points. Sophomore
Ali Davenport
(Baton Rouge, La./Runnels) had 12 points and eight rebounds.
Prior to the game, Alzime was honored for scoring her 1,000th career
point last weekend at Christopher Newport University. Alzime is
the College's 12th women's basketball player to reach this scoring
milestone, and now has 1,023 career points.
Junior
Charde Evans
(Virginia Beach, Va./Coastal Christian Academy) had 11 points, as
did freshman
Jennifer Bylsma (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville).
Ferrum (11-12, 7-6 USA South) returns to action Saturday, Feb. 18, with
a home USA South game against Peace College. Wesleyan falls
to 2-20 overall with the loss, 0-13 in league play.
In the men's game, five players scored in double figures for the
Panthers. Sophomore

(Lynchburg, Va./Heritage) and sophomore
Cedric Jones
(Lynchburg, Va./Gulf Coast CC) had 13 points each.
Sophomore
Jon Godsey
(Gladys, Va./William Campbell) had 12 points and eight rebounds,
while freshman Trey
Ray (Charleston, W.Va./Williams) had 11 points and nine rebounds,
and junior Ed
Robinson (Appomattox, Va./Appomattox Co.) had 11 points.
Ferrum concludes its regular season with a record of 7-18, 3-9 in the
USA South. N.C. Wesleyan falls to 8-16, 6-5 in the
USA South.
