19 in Loss to CNU
NEWPORT NEWS,
Va. – Junior
Aline Alzime
(Leesburg, Va./Stonebridge) became the 12th player in school history
to reach the 1,000-point scoring plateau Sunday afternoon at USA South
Athletic Conference opponent Christopher Newport University.
Alzime entered the season with 669 career points and has scored 342 in
22 games for Ferrum this season, giving her 1,011 for her career.
She is now just 19 points behind Ferrum's #11 career scorer Amber
Triplett (1,030 points), who reached the milestone last season, 34 points behind #10 Lisa Childress (1,045
pts), and 55 points behind #9 Missy Smith (1,066 pts).
Saturday, the Panther women opened the day with a 75-66 loss to
Christopher Newport. Alzime was Ferrum's high scorer with 19
points and tied for high rebounder with 10. Senior
Tawanna McCall (Bassett, Va./Bassett) had 17 points and 10 rebounds.
In the men's game, sophomore Cedric Jones (Lynchburg, Va./Gulf Coast
CC) led Ferrum with a game-high 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds as the
men fell 78-74.
Junior Keith
Harris (Ringgold, Va./Dan River), who hit the game-winning
three-point basket the previous day in a 67-66 win at Shenandoah
University, had 16 points for the Panthers against CNU. Junior
Ed Robinson
(Appomattox, Va./Appomattox County) added 15 points in the loss,
while freshman Trey
Ray (Charleston, W.Va./Williams) had a game-high 14 rebounds to go
with eight points.

Men's Box Score: CNU 78, Ferrum 74
The Panther women are now 10-12 overall and an even 6-6 in the USA
South, while the men are 6-18 overall and 2-9 in league play. Both
teams return to the hardwood Friday, Feb. 17, with a USA South home
doubleheader against North Carolina Wesleyan College. The women
begin at 5:30 p.m. and the men are set to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
Prior to the women's game Friday night, the College will honor Alzime
for joining the
1,000-Point Club. Prior to the men's game Friday,
the Panthers will honor graduating senior
Nigel Kelly (Raleigh,
N.C./Ctrl. Carolina CC)
as part of Senior Day.
The Ferrum women will also play at home Saturday, Feb. 18, when they
host USA South opponent Peace College at 2 p.m. Prior to the game,
the College will hold a Senior Day ceremony to honor
Rebecca Eton
(Waynesboro, Va./Waynesboro) and McCall.
