Hamoy Named to 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III Football Team

FERRUM, Va. – Senior running back Dustin Hamoy (Richlands, Va./Richlands) has been named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III Football Team as a first team selection.

The Academic All-District team is part of the Academic All-American program.  The College Sports Information Director of America (CoSIDA) coordinates the program, with ESPN sponsoring the teams.

First team Academic All-District members are eligible for Academic All-America honors.  This is the second Academic All-District award for Hamoy, who also earned first team honors in 2004.  Ferrum is aligned in the District III College Division.

Hamoy rushed for 686 yards and nine touchdowns this season, averaging 6.0 yards per carry.  He also caught 14 passes for 253 yards and a pair of TDs, and scored a two-point conversion for the Panthers.


Hamoy's Career Statistics

Hamoy is a three-year Academic All-Conference selection in the USA South Athletic Conference.  His honors include Who's Who Among Students in American College and Universities, Alpha Chi National Fraternity for Academics, and the Ferrum College Beasley Scholarship award.

Hamoy helped Ferrum earn a share of the 2005 USA South Athletic Conference football title this year, en route to an NCAA Division III playoff berth.  The Panthers finished the season at 9-2 overall and won the 2005 NCAA Division III statistical title for rushing offense with a average of 361.4 yards per game on the ground.  Ferrum is led by 12th-year Head Coach Dave Davis, who was named 2005 USA South Athletic Conference Football Coach of the Year.
