Laws Earn USA South Honors
FERRUM, Va. – Junior guard
Aline Alzime (Leesburg, Va./Stonebridge) and
freshman guard
Caprice Laws
(Covington, Va./Covington) have been named Women's Basketball Player
and Rookie
of the Week, respectively, by the USA South Athletic Conference.
Both players scored in double figures last week in Ferrum's 109-95 win
over Emory & Henry College Dec. 6th on the road.

Alzime had a game- and career-high 29 points in the win, and added 14
rebounds and five assists. She was 8-17 from the floor and a
perfect 13-13 from the line. This is Alzime's first Player of the
Week honor this season. She was the 2004 USA South Rookie of the
Year as a freshman and made the All-Conference first team last season.
Laws went 4-8 from the floor against Emory & Henry, scoring 11 points.
She also had five rebounds and dished out four assists. This is
Laws' second Rookie of the Week honor, having also earned the honor on
Nov. 29.
Ferrum (4-4) will close out first-semester action Saturday, Dec.
17, at Oglethorpe University. The non-conference game is scheduled
to tip off at 2 p.m. in Atlanta, Georgia. Ferrum will then be idle
for the holiday break and will return to action Jan. 10 at home against
Averett University. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. that night as Ferrum
opens USA South play.
