Kaye Nets Game-Winner in 1-0 Win
Women's Soccer Posts 1-0 Win Over Hollins

FERRUM, Va. – Freshman Sarah Kaye (Annandale, Va./Paul VI) scored at the 40:23 mark, spotting Ferrum College the only goal it would need in a 1-0 non-conference women's soccer win over Hollins University.

Box Score:  Ferrum 1, Hollins 0

Senior Elizabeth Smith (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax), playing in her last match at home, assisted on the goal with a nice pass to Kaye.  It was the first goal of the season for Kaye and the first assist of the season for Smith.

Freshman GK Sarah Hutzler (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) preserved the shutout for Ferrum, making two saves in 90 minutes of play.  GK Laura Bieging made 19 saves for Hollins.  Ferrum out-shot Hollins 31-3 and held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Ferrum improves to 7-8-1 with the win, while Hollins is now 3-12.  Ferrum will play next on Saturday, Oct. 29, at USA South opponent Methodist College.  The Panthers will then play in the 2005 USA South Women's Soccer Tournament, slated to begin Tuesday, Nov. 1, at a site yet to be determined.
