Ferrum Women Win USA South Opener 83-65
Five Panthers
in Double Digits in Win Over Averett
FERRUM, Va.
– Ferrum College picked up an 83-65 win over Averett University
this evening at home in the USA South Athletic Conference opener for
both teams.

Junior Aline
Alzime (Leesburg, Va./Stonebridge) was one of five Panthers to score
in double digits. She had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Ferrum
(5-5, 1-0 USA South), which led 42-24 at halftime, and added six assists
and five steals.
Senior Tawanna
McCall (Bassett, Va./Bassett), junior
Quanita Bennett
(Virginia Beach, Va./Coastal Christian Academy) and sophomore
Candice Jackson
(Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) had 11 points each. Freshman
Caprice Laws
(Covington, Va./Covington) chipped in with 10 points.
Averett (4-4, 0-1 USA South) was led by Kristen Kozar and Jasmine Adams,
who had 12 points each for the Cougars. CeCe Carter added 11
points in the loss.
For the game, Ferrum shot 53 percent to Averett's 36 percent.
Coach Bryan Harvey's team out-rebounded the Cougars 46-32.
Ferrum returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 11, with a non-conference road
game at Lynchburg College. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
Averett will also be back in action tomorrow, hosting non-conference
opponent Emory & Henry College at 7 p.m. in Danville.
