Men's Tennis Wins 2005 USA South Sportsmanship Award

Ferrum, Va. – The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its spring Sportsmanship Awards, and Ferrum College has won the 2005 USA South Men's Tennis Sportsmanship Award.

The USA South sponsors sportsmanship awards for 12 of the league's 14 sports.  For every sport, each team member votes for the top three teams he/she deems to have demonstrated the best overall sportsmanship throughout the season.  Schools may not vote for their own team.  The team garnering the most votes receives that sports' Sportsmanship Award.  The school that wins the most individual sportsmanship awards wins the overall USA South Sportsmanship Trophy.

The USA South Sportsmanship Award came about through the league Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's commitment to maintaining a sportsmanlike environment on each campus.  The National Collegiate Athletic Association strongly encourages sportsmanship, and has designed programs and conferences aimed at improving sportsmanship and ethical conduct across the nation.
