Ferrum Softball Players Earn All-State
Honors
FERRUM, VA -- Four Ferrum College
softball players have been named to the 2005 College Division
Softball All-State team as voted upon by the Virginia Sports
Information Directors.
Headlining the list for Ferrum was freshman outfielder
Mary Greenway
(Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring), who was named to the All-State
first team. Greenway batted .437 with six doubles, three
triples, one home run, and 14 RBI. Greenway also won the
NCAA Division III statistical championship for stolen bases.
The freshman speedster nabbed 50 stolen bases in 51 attempts.

Senior second baseman
Jami Reed (Danville,
Va./Tunstall), sophomore pitcher Kim
Cox (Gladys, Va./William Campbell), and freshman first baseman Krystal
Ellis (Altavista, Va./Rustburg) were all named to the
All-State second team.
Ferrum closed out the season with a 26-15 record. The
Panthers tied for fourth place in the USA South Athletic
Conference regular season standings, but ran the table with a 4-0
record to win the league's post-season tournament and earn a trip
to the NCAA Division III playoffs. It was the second trip in
the last four seasons for Head Coach Vickie Van Kleeck's team.
