Thomas Named to All-Region, All-State Baseball Teams

FERRUM, VA
-- Ferrum College sophomore third baseman Brett Thomas (Danville, Va./George Washington) has been named to the 2005 All-South Region first team as named by the American Baseball Coaches Association, as well as the 2005  All-State team as named by the Virginia Sports Information Directors.

Thomas closed out the season with a .420 batting average with 11 doubles, five triples, five home runs, 31 RBI and 39 runs.  He was also 14-14 in stolen bases, turned three double plays and had a .871 fielding percentage.  As a first team All-Region player, Thomas is now eligible for All-America honors.

Ferrum closed out the 2005 season with a 23-14-1 overall record.  The Panthers were runners-up in the USA South Athletic Conference regular season standings, then won the USA South postseason tournament and advanced to the NCAA playoffs for the ninth time in school history.

Ferrum finished runner-up at the Salisbury Regional.  Coach Abe Naff's team finished the season with a #16 national ranking in the ABCA final poll.
