Baseball Takes Two From Averett
Panthers Win 10-2, 13-1
DANVILLE, VA -- Ferrum College defeated
Averett University 10-2 and 13-1 in USA South Athletic Conference
baseball action this afternoon on the road.

In the first game, senior
Quincy
Davenport (Bedford, Va./Liberty) went 3-4 with a double, two
runs, and an RBI. Sophomore
Brett Thomas
(Danville, Va./George Washington) had a solo home run to lead
off the fifth inning. Freshman Ryan Cooper pitched a
complete seven-inning game to earn the win. He allowed six
hits and two earned runs, while striking out one and walking one.
In the second game, sophomore
Matt Gammon
(Providence, N.C./Bartlett-Yancey) belted a gland slam home
run in the seventh inning. Gammon went 1-2 with a run and
two stolen bases, and was beaned twice. Sophomore
Brent Sowers
(Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) went 3-6 with a double, and three
runs. Thomas went 2-5 with 2 runs and a stolen base, and
senior Kasey
Harmon (St. Cloud, Fla./St. Cloud) went 2-2 with a double, two
runs, an RBI and a stolen base.
Junior Jesse
Bowles (Boones Mill, Va./Franklin County) got the win on the
mound, allowing just two hits over five innings, while striking
out eight and walking four.
With the wins, Ferrum improves to 15-10 overall, 8-5 in the USA
South. Averett falls to 6-29, 1-16 in the USA South.
Ferrum will be back in action tomorrow, April 10, in a single
nine-inning game at Averett starting at 1 p.m.
