Baseball Players Earn All-Conference Honors

FERRUM, VA -- Ferrum College landed five baseball players on the 2005 USA South Athletic Conference's All-Conference team, as voted upon by the league's head coaches.

2005 USA South Baseball All-Conference Team

Sophomore third baseman Brett Thomas (Danville, Va./George Washington) has been named to the first team.  Thomas is batting .433 with eight doubles, two triples, four home runs, 21 RBI and 28 runs.

Sophomore outfielder Brent Sowers (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) was named to the All-Conference second team.  Sowers is batting .341 this season for the Panthers.

Junior pitcher/DH Jesse Bowles (Boones Mil, Va./Franklin County), sophomore Ryan Cooper (Stuarts Draft, Va./Stuarts Draft), and freshman catcher Nick Baker (Vinton, Va./William Byrd) were all named to the honorable mention team.

Ferrum is currently 16-10-1 and plays next in the 2005 USA South Baseball Tournament, to be held Thursday through Monday, April 14-18 at Dan Daniel Memorial Park in Danville, Virginia.  The Panthers are the #2 seed in the tournament.  For more coverage on the 2005 USA South Baseball Tournament, please visit the league web site at www.usasouth.net.
