Men's Tennis Players Earn All-Conference Honors

FERRUM, VA -- Three Ferrum College men's tennis players have been named to the 2005 USA South Athletic Conference's All-Conference team, as voted upon by the league's head coaches.

2005 USA South Men's Tennis All-Conference Team

Junior Matt Brantley (Norlina, N.C./Warren County) has been named to the All-Conference second team.  Brantley is 8-7 at #1 singles this season, 5-7 at #1 doubles, and 13-14 overall.  This is Brantley's first All-Conference honor.

Juniors Erich Trier (Middleburg, Va./Loudoun Valley) and Paul Matthews (Glen Allen, Va./J.R. Tucker) have been named to the honorable mention team.  For Trier, this is his third time on the All-Conference team.  He was an All-Conference second team selection in 2003 and 2004 as well.

Ferrum closed out regular season play at 7-6 overall and plays next in the 2005 USA South Tennis Tournament, to be held Saturday and Sunday, April 16-17 in Newport News, Virginia.  For more coverage on the 2005 USA South Men's Tennis Tournament, please visit the league web site at www.usasouth.net.
