Softball Players Earn All-Conference
Honors
FERRUM, VA -- Ferrum College landed four
softball players on the 2005 USA South Athletic Conference's
All-Conference team, as voted upon by the league's head coaches.
2005 USA South Softball All-Conference Team
Senior second baseman
Jami Reed (Danville,
Va./Tunstall) was named to the All-Conference first team along
with freshman outfielder
Mary Greenway
(Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring). Reed is batting .363 with
six doubles, two
triples, 20 RBI and 17 runs. Greenway is batting .444 with
five doubles, two triples, one home run, 13 RBI, and 32 runs.
Greenway has also been successful in 42 of 43 stolen base
attempts.
Sophomore pitcher Kim
Cox (Gladys, Va./William Campbell) has been named to the
All-Conference second team. Cox is 12-6 this year with a
3.19 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 112 innings of work. Cox was
last year's Rookie Pitcher of the Year. Freshman first
baseman Krystal
Ellis (Altavista, Va./Rustburg) was named to the honorable
mention team.
Ferrum is currently 19-12 and plays next in the 2005 USA South
Softball Tournament, to be held Friday through Sunday, April 15-17
in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Panthers are the #6 seed in
