USA South Women's Lacrosse Tournament Pairings Announced

FAYETTEVILLE, NC -- The 2005 USA South Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament pairings have been announced by the league office and the Ferrum College Panthers have drawn the #5 seed.

The tournament opens Tuesday, April 12, with a pair of quarterfinal match-ups: #4 Shenandoah University (7-5, 2-3 USA South) will host #5 Ferrum (1-8, 1-4) in Winchester, Virginia, and #3 Methodist College (6-8, 3-2) will host #6 Averett University (0-12, 0-5) in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

The tournament resumes Friday, April 15, at Averett in Danville, Virginia.  In the first semi-final contest at 1 p.m., top seed Christopher Newport University (7-8, 5-0) will face the winner of the Shenandoah/Ferrum game.  The second semi-final will pit #2 Greensboro (6-6, 4-1) against the Methodist/Averett winner at 4 p.m.

The semi-final winners will meet for the championship at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Averett.  The USA South Tournament champion does not receive an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament.  For more coverage on the 2005 USA South Women's Lacrosse Tournament, please visit the league web site at www.usasouth.net.
