Ferrum Holds Off Bridgewater for 13th Win
Pitcher Randall Stevens Saves Game
for Panthers
FERRUM, VA -- Ferrum College picked up a
non-conference baseball win over the visiting Bridgewater College
Eagles 7-5 in a nine inning contest.
Ferrum jumped off to an early lead, scoring runs in the second,
third, fourth and fifth innings and took a 7-2 lead into the top
of the seventh. However, the Eagles battled back to trail
the Panthers by only two runs in the top of the ninth with runners
on second and third with only one out.

Ferrum then brought in senior Randall Stevens (Waynesboro, Va./Wilson Memorial)
who got two straight outs saving the game for the Panthers.
The 7-5 victory gave Ferrum its 13th win of the season.
The Panthers were led by freshman Nick Baker
(Vinton, Va./William Byrd), who went 2-4 and drove in one run,
senior Kasey
Harmon (St. Cloud, Fla./St. Cloud), who went 1-4 with two RBI,
and sophomore Matt
Gammon (Providence, N.C./Bartlett-Yancey), who scored two runs
and had a RBI. Sophomore
Jimmy Holm (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly)
pitched six innings giving up four earned runs and received the
win.
Bridgewater (12-11-1) was led by Chance Dobbs, who went 2-4 with
two RBI. Ferrum (13-10-1) returns to action this Thursday at
home against the non-conference opponent Emory & Henry College at
7 p.m. at Panther field.
