Ferrum Takes Two from Shenandoah in Softball
Greenway 5-8 in Two-Game Sweep, Ellis Homers in Game 1

SALEM, VA  – Ferrum College swept Shenandoah University 4-0 and 7-2 in USA South Athletic Conference softball action.  The games were played at the James Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Virginia.

In the first game, freshman Krystal Ellis (Altavista, Va./Rustburg) went 2-3 with a double, a home run, four RBI, and a run.  Freshman Mary Greenway (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) went 1-4 with a stolen base.  Sophomore Kim Cox (Gladys, Va./William Campbell) pitched a complete game, scattering four hits over seven innings, while striking out five and walking none.

In the second game, Greenway went 3-4 with two runs, an RBI, and three stolen bases.  Senior Jami Reed (Danville, Va./Tunstall) went 2-4 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.  Greenway is 29-30 in stolen bases this season and now holds game (4) and season (29) stolen base records.  With three more stolen bases, she will eclipse the career mark in just her freshman season.

Freshman Laura Terry (
Willis Wharf, Va./No. Hampton) pitched all seven innings for the win.  She allowed six hits and no earned runs, while striking out three batters and walking two.
