Toland Earns All-America
WBCA Names Ferrum Guard Honorable
Mention
FERRUM, VA – The Women's Basketball Coaches Association and
Eastman Kodak Company announced the
2005
NCAA Division III All-America Team, and Ferrum College point
guard Tara
Toland (North, S.C./North) has been named to the honorable
mention squad.
Toland averaged 18.5 points and 7.4 assists this season.
Toland becomes the just the seventh women's basketball
All-American at Ferrum all-time, and just the fifth since the
College joined the NCAA Division III ranks in 1985-86. The
most recent All-American women's basketball player at Ferrum was
Tina McBride, who earned WBCA honorable mention in 2003.
McBride earned All-Conference honors four times in basketball and
once in tennis.

1982 - Cindy Warring (American Women's Sports Federation,
honorable mention)
1986 - Ann Reynolds (Fast Break, 2nd team)
Toland earned All-Conference honors the past three seasons,
including being named the 2005 USA South Athletic Conference
Player of the Year. She set the new career scoring record
this year with 1,501 career points from 2002-05.
Toland was also recently named to the
2005
D3Hoops.com All-South Region second team. Toland led the
nation is assists this season, averaging 7.4 per game over 26
games. She closes out her career with eight school
records; career scoring (1501 pts), game assists (14), season
assists (2005), career assists (586), game steals (11), season
steals (103), career steals (383), and career free throws made
(298).
Ferrum closed out the 2004-05 women's basketball season at 15-12
overall and placed second in the USA South regular season
standings at 11-3 against league opponents. Toland helped
Ferrum win a share of the 2002-03 USA South regular season title.
