Softball Splits with Guilford
Ellis Homers in First Game
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Ferrum College softball team split with
Guilford College this afternoon, losing the first game 7-6 and
winning the nightcap 7-4.
In the first game, freshman
Krystal Ellis
(Altavista, Va./Rustburg) went 2-4 with a double, a home run,
three RBI, and two runs. Freshman
Mary Greenway
(Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) went 3-4 with a double and two
stolen bases. Greenway has been successful in 18 of 19 steal
attempts this season.

Senior Jami Reed
(Danville, Va./Tunstall) went 2-3 with a walk and two runs,
and sophomore
Lindsay Etherton Moneta, Va./Staunton River) went 2-3 with a
double and an RBI.
In the second game, Greenway went 2-4 with a sacrifice fly, three
RBI, and a run. Reed went 2-4 with a double, an RBI, and a
run. Senior
Stacey Porter (Radford, Va./Radford) went 2-4 with a double
and an RBI. Porter
pitched the first three innings of the game as well, allowing just
two hits and walking two. Sophomore
Kim Cox (Gladys,
Va./William Campbell) picked up the win. Cox pitched the
last two innings, allowing one hit, striking out one, and walking
one.

Ferrum improves to 8-5, while Guilford is now 4-8. The
Panthers will be back in action March 15 when they host
Christopher Newport University in a USA South doubleheader at 3:30
