Ferrum Wins with Thomas'
Game-Winning Hit
Panthers defeat Va. Wesleyan 5-4
FERRUM, VA – Ferrum College Panthers took an early
lead with three runs in the first three innings and scored a run
in the bottom of the ninth inning to take a 5-4 non-conference
baseball victory over Virginia Wesleyan College.
The Marlins battled back to tie the score in the
top of the ninth with two runs. In the bottom of the inning,
Brett Thomas
(Danville, VA/ Geo. Washington) hit a two out single that scored
Quincy Davenport
(Bedford, VA/Liberty) from second base to win the game.
Jessie Fuller
(Richmond, VA/ Varina) was 1-3
with a home run and
Donnie Sprouse
(Madison Heights/ Amherst Co.) was 2-4 and scored two runs.
Casey Davenport
(Bedford, VA/ Liberty) allowed just two runs in six innings,
while striking
out seven, and Randell Stevens
(Waynesboro, VA/ Wilson Memorial) picked up the win in relief.

Virginia Wesleyan (6-6) was led by Colin Roberson, who went 3 for 5
with 1 RBI and scored two runs and Bryan Brinkley was 2 for 4 with
two RBI's.
Ferrum (5-3-1) returns to action Saturday, March 12 with a
non-conference doubleheader against Chowan College at home starting at
1 p.m.
