Godsey Named USA South Rookie of the Week
Freshman from Gladys Earns First Honor This Season
Ferrum, Va. – Freshman forward
Jon Godsey
(Gladys, Va./William Campbell) has been named this week's
Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week by the USA South Athletic
Conference.
Godsey scored 12 points, pulled down seven rebounds, and blocked
three shots in Ferrum's 72-67 win on the road over Southern
Virginia University on December 7 in Buena Vista, Virginia.
This is Godsey's first USA South honor this season. Thus
far, Godsey is averaging 7.7 points and 5.0 rebounds in just over
23 minutes per game. He is shooting 49% from the floor, 71%
from the line, and leads the team in blocked shots with 11.
The win over Southern Virginia improved Ferrum to 3-4 overall, and
was the team's last game before final exams. Coach Scott
Shepherd's team will return to action December 18-19 when they
