Ferrum Football Game Can Drive
College Offers Free Admission to Football Game for Two Canned
Food Items
Ferrum, Va. – In support of the USA South Athletic
Conference's "Cans Across the Conference" program, Ferrum College
has announced it will allow fans admission to this Saturday's home
football game in exchange for canned food items.
Any fans who bring two canned or other non-perishable food items
will receive free admission to the Ferrum vs. North Carolina
Wesleyan game on Saturday, November 6. The two schools are
playing for the first time. The Battling Bishops are playing
in their inaugural football season.
The Cans Across the Conference project is a
community service
competition amongst the schools in the USA South, where each
campus' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee organizes a canned food
drive at their school from September 30 - November 13. The
drive is to benefit a local charity. Ferrum has selected the
St. James Community Center Food Bank as its charity.
Ferrum stands atop the leader board in the league's can drive with
1,867 cans collected to date. Methodist College is currently
running second with 664 cans. For more details on the Cans
