Panthers Grab First Win
Ferrum Defeats Palm Beach Atlantic
Ferrum, Va. – The Ferrum College women's basketball team
earned its first win of the season, an 86-68 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic University at the
Methodist College/Cross Creek Innkeeper Turkey Shootout.
Senior
Angela VonWergers (Albany, N.Y./Hudson Valley College) led the
Panthers today with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore
Aline
Alzime (Leesburg, Va./Stonebridge) added 24 points and 11
rebounds. Both players were named to the All-Tournament
team.
Senior
Tara Toland
(North, S.C./North) had 12 points and tied an 18-year-old
school record for single game assists. Toland's 14 assists
tied the mark set by former All-American Lisa Childress against
Brevard College on November 22, 1986. Sophomore
Charde Evans
(Virginia Beach, Va./Coastal Christian Academy) had 10 points
in the win.
Ferrum (1-4) returns to action Wednesday, December 1, when it
opens USA South Athletic Conference play at Averett University in
