Toland Tops 1000 Points
Senior Guard Also Sets New Steals Record

Ferrum, Va. – Ferrum College women's basketball player Tara Toland (North, S.C./North) joined an elite list of players in the 1000-Point Club when she scored her first basket during Ferrum's season-opening game Nov. 19 against Guilford College.

Toland came into the season with 999 career points and broke the 1000-point mark just minutes into the game.  Toland would go on to score 23 points in the game but it wasn't enough as Guilford edged the Panthers 79-70.

The next day against Lynchburg College, Toland set a new school record for single game steals, registering 11 against the Hornets.  Lynchburg slipped past Ferrum 82-74 in overtime.  Toland came into the season already owning two school records, career steals (282) and career assists (365).  She was an All-Conference second team selection in 2004, and a  first teamer in 2003.

Ferrum (0-2) returns to action November 22 when it travels to Salem, Virginia, to face non-conference opponent Roanoke College (2-0).  For more information, please contact the Ferrum sports information office at (540) 365-4306.
