Ferrum Upends Hollins 3-2 in Women's Soccer
Phillips Notches Goal, Assist in Non-Conference Win
Ferrum, Va. – Senior Jenn
Phillips (Ferrum, Va./Franklin County) scored a goal and
assisted on another as Ferrum College posted a 3-2
non-conference women's soccer win over Hollins University this
afternoon on the road.

The Panthers trailed 1-0 after Emily Fielder put
Hollins on the board early in the match. Phillips tied the
match at 1-1 with just over five minutes remaining in the first
half. Less than two minutes later, freshman Sarah
Palastro (Springfield, Va./Paul VI)
put Ferrum up 2-1 with a goal at the 41:02 mark off a pass from
Phillips.
Hollins' Leah Jackson tied the game early in the second half,
only to see the Panthers score again a few minutes
later. Freshman Cara
Kolina (Staten Island, N.Y./St.
Joseph by the Sea)
netted the game-winner for Ferrum, her second game-winning goal
in the last three matches.
Sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth
Haines (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) made two saves, playing
all 90 minutes in net. Ferrum improves to 5-9-2 with the
win, while Hollins fell to 2-13. Ferrum out-shot Hollins
29-5 and held a 11-0 edge in corner kicks.
Coach Celia Mosier's team will return to action Saturday,
October 30, facing USA South Athletic Conference opponent Methodist
