Perih Leads FC with Two Goals

Ferrum, Va. – Freshman midfielder Stephanie Perih (Centreville, Va./Paul VI) scored two goals to lift Ferrum College to a 3-1 non-conference women's soccer win over Hood College October 25 in Frederick, Maryland.

          Official Box Score

The Panthers trailed 1-0 after Laurie Burrier put Hood on the board 7:59 into the game.  Perih tied the game at 1-1 when she drilled the upper right corner of the net from 30 yards out, unassisted at 22:25.

Freshman midfielder Cara Kolina (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) netted what would be the game-winner for Ferrum, an unassisted score just before halftime at 43:01.  Kolina leads the Panthers this season in shots (37), goals (9), and points (23).  Perih sealed the deal for Ferrum with her second goal of the afternoon, lofting the ball over Hood goalkeeper Jennifer Guyer at the 85:08 mark.

Sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth Haines (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) made three saves, playing all 90 minutes in net.  Ferrum improves to 4-8-2 with the win, while the Blazers fell to 8-7-1.  Ferrum out-shot Hood 24-7 and held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Coach Celia Mosier's team will return to action Wednesday, October 27, hosting Meredith College at 3 p.m. in non-conference action.  Ferrum will then close out regular season play with a non-conference match at Hollins University October 29, and a USA South Athletic Conference match against Methodist College October 30 at home.
