Johnson Named USA South Rookie of the Week
Freshman Guard Averaged 18 Points Over Three Games

Ferrum, Va.  – Freshman point guard Kenny Johnson (Beaver Falls, Pa./Beaver Falls) has been named this week's USA South Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week.

Johnson averaged 18 points per game in three contests last week, all losses.  In a loss to NCAA Division I opponent Winthrop University on January 2nd, Johnson scored a game-high 27 points.  He added seven rebounds and five assists in the loss.

Through Ferrum's first 11 games, Johnson leads the team in scoring (15.3 pg) and assists (4.5 apg).  He has scored in double figures nine times this season, including three 20-plus performances.

Ferrum is 3-8 thus far and will open USA South Athletic Conference play Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Averett University in Danville, Virginia.  The Panthers play their home-opener Saturday, January 15, in a USA South doubleheader against Methodist College.  The women tip off at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the men to follow at 4 p.m.
