Ferrum Women Maintain USA South Lead with
Win Over NCW
Panthers win 84-73 Over Bishops
Ferrum, Va.
– Senior Tara
Toland (North, S.C./North) led all scorers
with 26 points as the Ferrum College women's basketball team picked
up its sixth USA South Athletic Conference win this season,
defeating North Carolina Wesleyan College at home,
84-73.
Toland had nine assists and seven steals to go long with her 26
points.
Sophomore
Aline Alzime (Leesburg, Va./Stonebridge) added 15 points and
nine rebounds. Senior
Amber
Triplett (Bassett, Va./Bassett) also
contributed 11 points and eight rebounds, and freshman
Brittany
Kellam (Collinsville, Va./Magna Vista) chipped in with 14
points in the victory.

- After trailing 5-0 to open the game,
the Panthers battled back to take a six-point lead into the locker
room, 39-33. In the second half, Ferrum (8-9,
6-1 USA South) continued their strong play and increased the lead
to eleven points, eventually winning 84-73. NC Wesleyan
(7-9, 5-2) was led by J.D. Richardson, who scored 19 points,
including four three-point shots. Kendra Brewer added 15
points and Liz Ansley had 14.

In the nightcap the Ferrum men fell 82-74 to the Bishops.
Sophomore
Keith Harris (Ringgold, Va./Dan River) led the Panthers with
19 points, and freshman
Kenny
Johnson (Beaver Falls, Pa./Beaver Falls) had 13 points
and nine assists. Sophomore

Robinson (Appomattox, Va./Appomattox County) added 12 points,
while freshman
Rafael
Holland (Palmyra, Va./Folk Union) scored 10 points and grabbed
eight rebounds.
NC Wesleyan (7-11, 1-5) was led by Lenny Hall's 26 points.
Roman Spears chipped in 17 and Oliver Brown had 12. Ferrum
falls to 5-13 overall and is now 2-4 in the USA South.
