Ferrum Women Blow Out Methodist 77-50
Men Fall to Monarchs 58-46
Ferrum, Va.
– Ferrum College split a USA South Athletic Conference basketball
doubleheader against Methodist College at home this afternoon in
Ferrum, with the women winning 77-50 and the men losing 58-46.

Freshman
Brittany Kellam (Collinsville, Va./Magna Vista) led all
scorers in the women's game with 22 points on 8-10 shooting from
the floor. She was 3-3 from behind the 3-point line and 3-3
from the free throw line. Kellam also scored 14 points is
this week's win over Peace College January 12th.
Sophomore
Aline Alzime (Leesburg, Va./Stonebridge) had a solid game as
well with 15 points, seven rebounds, six steals and four assists.
Alzime has scored in double figures in 11 of Ferrum's 12 games
thus far and has posted double-doubles in scoring and rebounding
eight times.
She was
the USA South Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Year last season.
Ashley Smith and Shameeka Wansley had
10 points each for Methodist (5-6, 1-3 USA South).
Ferrum took a commanding 44-22 lead into the locker room at
halftime and never looked back. The Monarchs made a few
strong runs in the second half, but were answered each time by the
Panthers. Ferrum (4-8, 3-0) plays next on Tuesday, January
18, at home against Greensboro.
In the men's game, the Panthers led 20-13 at the end of a
low-scoring first half, only to see the Monarchs outscore them
45-26 in the second. Sophomore
Ken Holley
(Winston-Salem, N.C./N. Forsyth) had 10 points, five rebounds
and three blocked shots to lead the Panthers. Sophomore

Robinson (Appomattox, Va./Appomattox County) had eight points
to go with eight rebounds. Freshman
Kenny
Johnson (Beaver Falls, Pa./Beaver Falls) had eight points and
four assists.
Methodist improves to 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the USA South.
Ferrum (3-10, 0-2) will also return to action Tuesday, also
hosting Greensboro in USA South action. For
