Meeks, Matern Earn All-State Honors
- Seniors Named to Baseball
& Women's Lacrosse Teams

- Ferrum, Va. – Seniors Thomas
Meeks (Rocky Mount, Va./Franklin County) and Ginni
Matern (Stafford, Va./No. Stafford) have been named to the
Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State teams
in baseball and women's lacrosse, respectively.
Meeks hit .317 this season with eight doubles, nine home runs,
and 34 RBI as a designated hitter. On the mound, he
notched a 5-0 record with a 1.89 ERA in 47.2 innings of
work. Meeks walked 25, struck out 53, and held opposing
batters to a .191 batting average. Ferrum finished 26-11
this season, winning its third consecutive USA South Athletic
Conference regular season title. Meeks was an
All-Conference selection the past three season.

- Matern led the Ferrum women's lacrosse team in scoring with
36 points on 35 goals and an assist. She started all 13
games this season for the 3-10 Panthers. She closed out
her four-year career with 70 goals, 12 assists, and 82
points. She is Ferrum's first women's lacrosse player to
earn four All-Conference awards.
