The title is Ferrum's seventh overall, the fourth in the past six seasons and the third consecutive.  Ferrum also claimed baseball titles in the Dixie Conference in 1990, 1992, 1993, 1999, 2000, 2002, and 2003.  All seven titles have been under the direction of Head Coach Abe Naff, who is now 556-189-1 in his 19th season at the helm of the Panther baseball program.

Senior All-American Thomas Meeks (Rocky Mount, Va./Franklin County) pitched 8.2 innings this afternoon, allowing just one hit, walking six and striking out eight.  Meeks, pictured above, improved to 4-0 with a 1.93 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 32.2 innings this season.

The win improve Ferrum to 22-6 overall and 14-4 in the USA South.  Christopher Newport is now 16-11, 11-7 in league play.  Ferrum returns to action Wednesday, April 7, when it hosts non-conference opponent Bluefield College at 7 p.m.  For more information, please contact the Ferrum College Sports Information Office at (540) 365-4306.
