Ferrum Defeats Shenandoah in Baseball 
Panthers Win 13-1 in First Round of USA South Tournament
 
Ferrum, Va. -- Top-seeded Ferrum College defeated #8 Shenandoah University 13-1in the first round of the 2004 USA South Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament this afternoon in Danville, Virginia.

Senior Carlos Sanchez (Stanleytown, Va./Bassett) pitched all seven innings, allowing just three hits, walking three, and striking out seven.  Sanchez, pictured above, improves to 8-2 this season.

Freshman third baseman Brett Thomas (Danville, Va./George Washington) went 2-3 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs.  Senior outfielder Donnell Stockton (Martinsville, Va./Fieldale-Collinsville) went 2-2 with a triple, two runs, and an RBI.
 
Senior DH Thomas Meeks (Rocky Mount, Va./Franklin County) went 2-4 with a double, two runs, and an RBI.  Freshman outfielder Brent Sowers (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) went 2-4 with a double, two RBI, and a run.
