Ferrum Picks Up 10-2 Baseball Win Over
Averett
- Panthers Set for Run at USA South Tournament

- Ferrum, Va. -- Ferrum College won the third
game in a USA South Athletic Conference baseball series over Averett
University by a score of 10-2 this afternoon in Ferrum. The
Panthers split with Averett yesterday, falling 15-5 in the opener
and winning the nightcap 3-2.
Box Score & Play-By-Play
Sophomore first baseman Jesse
Bowles (Boones Mill, Va./Franklin County) went 3-5 with a run
and four RBI. Senior outfielder Ricky
Peace (Hopewell, Va./Hopewell), pictured above, went 2-5 with
two stolen bases, scored a run, and drove in another.

- Junior shortstop Quincy
Davenport (Bedford, Va./Liberty) went 2-5 with a triple and a run,
and senior catcher Kevin
Griffin (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) went 2-4 with a double, two
runs, and an RBI. Freshman outfielder Brent
Sowers (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) went 2-3 with a run.
Freshman Curtis
Taylor (Glen Allen, Va./Hermitage) scattered 10 hits over seven
innings, struck out seven and walked none. Taylor improves to
6-2 this season, and has 60 strikeouts in 52.2 innings of work.
Ferrum improves to 24-8 overall and closes out USA South play at
16-5, winning the league's regular season title. Averett fell
to 20-18, 11-10 USA South. The USA South Tournament will be
held this week from April 14-17 at Dan Daniel Memorial Park in
Danville, Virginia. The pairings will be announced Monday
