Ferrum Sweeps USA South Softball Doubleheader
Panthers Defeat Shenandoah 15-1, 7-2
 
Ferrum, Va. -- Ferrum College picked up a doubleheader sweep in USA South softball action this afternoon, defeating Shenandoah University 15-1 and 7-2 in Winchester, Virginia.

In the first game, sophomore first baseman Kristina Wilhelm (Covington, Va./Alleghany) went 3-5 with a double and three RBI.  Senior third baseman Lindsay Cox (Waldorf, Md./LaPlata) went 2-4 with a triple, two RBI and a run. 
Sophomore outfielder Trica Moore (Appomattox, Va./Appomattox Co.) went 2-4 with three runs and an RBI.
 
Junior DH Stacy Porter (Radford, Va./Radford) went 2-4 with a double, two runs, and two RBI.  Porter pitched an inning in relief, allowing one hit, striking out one, and walking one.  Freshman Kim Cox (Gladys, Va./William Campbell) pitched five innings in picking up the win.  She allowed three hits, struck out five and walked none.

In the second game, sophomore outfielder Jenny Perdue (Glade Hill, Va./Franklin County) went 2-4 with two RBI and a stolen base.  Porter went 2-4 with a double, a run, and an RBI.  Porter, pictured above, also pitched all seven innings, allowing three hits, striking out 10 and walking five.


Ferrum improves to 4-6 overall with the sweep, 2-0 in the USA South.  Shenandoah falls to2-5 overall, 0-4 against league teams.   The Panthers are scheduled to be back in action this weekend when they host the Ferrum Invitational is Salem, Virginia.  For more information, please contact the Ferrum College Sports Information Office at (540) 365-4306.
