Panthers Top Knights in Baseball
Ferrum Improves to 18-4 on Season
 
Ferrum, Va. -- Ferrum College used a balance offense as eight Panthers registered hits to defeat Southern Virginia University 7-1. 
 
The Panthers went ahead 1-0 in the second inning on senior catcher Kevin Griffin's (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) solo home run.  Senior center fielder Ricky Peace (Hopewell, Va./Hopewell) knocked in a pair of runs in the fifth inning with a double to push the lead to 3-0.  Senior designated hitter Thomas Meeks (Rocky Mount, Va./Franklin Co.) hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning.  Peace scored on a wild pitch in the seventh, and junior second baseman Tim Clay (Coeburn, Va./Coeburn) scored on an error in the eighth inning. 
 
Freshman pitcher Casey Davenport (Bedford, Va./Liberty) picked up the win allowing one run on three hits while striking out seven in four innings of relief work.

Ferrum improves to 18-4 overall, Southern Virginia falls to 10-12.
